as you might know i am a TV photographer.. well. I never know what my day is going to be like.. till around 10am when I show up for work.
Today was no different.. except my assignment was to go photograph Carole King. WHAT???
Could this be real? or was it a joke someone was pulling on me?
It was no joke.. Carole King was in Idaho campagining for John Kerry. Damn! I was hoping i'd get to meet her. It was iffy.. but i pulled it off.
For those younger folks who don't know who Carole King is.. Carole is one of the best female songwriters/singers of the past 40 yrs. Here album "Tapestry" sold over 11million copies. and is still selling today.
I didn't have my copy of Tapesty.. it was at home.. so i scrambled to find a CD at several stores.. guess what? It's all sold out! UGH! I was dying here. I knew I needed her to sign something for me. and what better than a CD of Tapestry, right? YES.
Finally found the last CD at BB on my way to see her.
She gave a 20 minute talk about John Kerry.. and how he's hopefully going to be the next president.. yadda, yadda, yaddda. (I do like Johh Kerry.. met him too last month when he was in town).
Well then finally Carole gets to the piano and sings only two songs.. I'm dying here... Carole King is like one of my all time favorite songwriters/singer/musican ever.
She sings You've got a Friend.. and I feel the Earth Move.. very nice.. she's amazing.. and so nice.
Well on her way out to the next stop..I stopped here and asked if I could have my pic taken with her.. she said yes.. woo hoo.! Then I ask her to sign my CD of Tapestry.. and of course she does. Was I dreaming or what? No it wasn't a dream at all.
