Just looking for some experienced help here:

Which would you purchase--

The new RTi4's for $259.98 + tax from Circuit City

or

A pair of "open-box" RTi38's for $249 + $20 shipping from a reputable ebay seller?

I know the specs on each but in YOUR opinion which ones sound better for 80% movies & 20% music? Thanks :)

EDIT:

After some research I realize I might be comparing apples to oranges here. What about the RTi4's vs the RTi28's? Still interested in the comparrison above though--thanks

I was going to ask the same thing. I have a pair of RTi38's in my 2 channel setup. I don't have an HT receiver yet.

I prefer the looks of the RTi28 / 38's in cherry finish compared to the new RTi4 / 6 series in cherry finish. In the black finish, well, I'd say maybe it's a tie.

But, I'm trying to decide whether to take my RTi38's to work and use them in my office and just do my home system in the newer RTi series.

I'll be interested in feedback and opinions from anyone. Thanks.

Robert

Hi Robert,

RTi38's for your OFFICE???? Holy crap you must have one hell of an office! :)

Actually after using the search feature it seems the main difference between the new i's and the old i's besides the obvious cosmetics are the tweeters.

I'm still interested in an experienced opinion regarding my original question: which is the better VALUE for the money and which sound better?

Hey Robert--let me know if you want to part with those 38's he...he...he... :D Thanks.

I know this goes beyond the scope of your question but ...

If I had to choose between the 38's and the 4's ...

I'd add a few dollars more and go for the 6's ...

For example (No Affiliation) ...
