Has anyone collected some old magazines with reviews of the 1.2 or 2.3 SDAs? I know there have been one or two, but I would love to see if someone has a copy of these reviews in PDF format. I have in PDF a 1988 Audio magazine directory advertisement to trade, where Polk made a good call on taking over the first 20 pages for a huge advertisement effort (which obviously paid off). I saw that ad when the mag was brand new, and have kept it ever since. Only recently, I scanned it in at 200dpi and again at 600dpi for saving. I was floored when I first saw the ad's for the 1.2s and 2.3s and when I went to search for a speaker that I could keep for a very long time and would enjoy for that length of time, I found a set of 2.3TLs and I feel like I made a really wise decision with them. Powered by a Sunfire 300 (bi-amped as recommended), I can't find music (so far) that doesn't sound good on these! I still have to hear some Egglestonworks and some Duntech Sovereigns, but for the money, I feel great!!
For you Yes fans, go listen to the 24-bit Fragile DVD-A, The Ladder, and Magnification, as well as the Keys to Ascention CDs on these. You will be astounded! I'm a bass player, who also plays with synth bass pedals (like Chris Squire and Geddy Lee do sometimes), and these speakers will certainly let you hear the lowest notes they play! On keys to ascention, when Yes plays Close to The Edge, listen for the low bass notes at the end of the song. It proves to the common ear that the SDA 1.2 and 2.3s do handle bass frequencies as they should. Each note is about the same intensity as the one below and above it. It doesn't get out of control like many subwoofers!
Thanks!
