Hello everyone.. new to this board. From what I see, there are some really good suggestions on a variety of situations.

I am thinking of regaining most of my trunk space by doing away with my sealed sub enclosure (2 JL 10" W0 's powered by a Power Class 2400 amp)

I would like to go with a single 10" sub in a customized enclosure that fits nicely into the side of the trunk cavity (Volume=0.63 cu. ft.) But I don't want to lose too much power and clarity. I would like to keep the current amp (rated at 400W RMS). I probably don't want to just use one of the W0's. I've been eyeing the Polk/Momo 10" for a while because of it's power handling capability and looks.

What should I do? is there another 10" sub out there that would do the job?

Chip,
With your system configuration the MM100 should work very well.
A lot would also depend on the transfer function of the vehicle.
With the internal crossover supplied with the PPI amp, you may have to invert the phase of the sub to get the best possible bass
performance. Since the cones that we use on our subs are some of the stiffest cones in the industry, you will be hard pressed to find another 10" sub that will give you both clarity and performance that the MM100 can deliver. These subs do require
a "break in" period of 40 hours by playing music at a reasonable level to let the woofer's suspension break in or loosen up.
I would recommend installing about 1/2 of a pound of polyfill into the sub enclosure. Set the low pass crossover to 80 Hertz. Build your enclosure out of 3/4" MDF and seal all interior seams with a
silicone caulking. If you have any questions give us a call at
800-377-7655 between the hours of 9 AM to 6 PM Eastern time and we will be glad to help.

Thanks,
Kim

OK... system reconfiguration is almost finished. All that needs to be done is a "beauty box" for the amps / modules. I haven't really fully dialed in the system yet. But so far it sounds great.

Here are a few pics of my setup (1998 VW Passat):

(Kenwood in-dash multimedia head unit, Phoenix Gold M25 (old but reliable and clean) amp powering the front door separates, head unit powering the rear door separates, Power Class 2400 amp powers one MM100 Polk-Momo sub in custom sealed enclosure mounted on the side of the trunk)
