My personal listening preferences are for Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country & Classical more or less in that order and as a result I don't have much in the way of a collection of country music but my wife who is from the mid west does as she is a real enthusiat. I indulge her in this area and in the recent past have taken her to a couple of concerts. In this area of the world, country music is some what rare as although there used to be one country music station it has since disappeared and very few performers actually brave the Big Apple and the surrounding area.

We saw Toby Keith's show a couple of weeks ago at the Meadowlands who I thought was good but I did not think he had a great group of musicians with him but all in all it was a fun time.

Last night however, we had 5th row center seats at the Nassau Coliseum to see Martina McBride & Alan Jackson. Although that show won't make me a convert to exclusive listening of country music it was one of the best shows I've seen in awhile (There don't seem to be a lot of good rock groups on tour this winter). The show started promptly at an early 7:30 and went on continuously except for a short set rearrangement until 11:00.

You can tell from listening to her recorded music that Martina has talent but her live performance was outstanding and Alan Jackson besides being fairly laid back in his approach has a very talented cast of musicians in his group.

In short, if you have any remote interest in country music do catch this show if and when it comes near you. This is one of the rare opportunities to catch two very good headliners together on tour at the same time.

I agree on the Toby Keith concert, although I thought his guitar player was excellent. And how about the 3 back-up female singers :D .

Alan Jackson & Martina McBride played the Meadowlands about 3 years ago and from what I remember, both were very good.

TK's 3 female back up singers were cute, but as for their singing ability it would have been better not introduce them and have them sing a few bars on their own.
