Impressed with first set of DIY IC

Built a set of IC out of monster m1000 silver vid cable & monster m1000 quick loc compression ends. Have been trying to decide on what cable to use on & on & on. Thanks to doro & his suggestion "EZC - If you start counting strands, you shouldn't be building your own IC's. DIY is for pure enjoyment, don't get crazy or you will ruin the whole idea and the feeling. Build and believe." I used what we have here at the shop. My cables dont have any nylon covering or anything else. It looks like a 1 meter composite video cable. I listeded to my wifes cd Fleetwood mac "say you will" last night after installing the cables & I must say Im impressed! I hope as the cables break in it gets better. The sound stage has opened up & the depth was much deeper. With the monster 100's it sounded like playing through the dig or fiber optic cable & letting the receiver do the decoding. I dont listen to much music but hearing how big the sound was comming out of my system just blew me away! I actually listened to the whole CD! Im still in the wow zone! Im amazed that with just the mains playing the sound was that big! Wow. Built 4 more today & will hook it up to play a DVDA I purchased at CES. What is a good cleaner or what should I use to clean my rca inputs on the receiver & the dvd player? I do need to clean them, I used alcohol & a rag for a quick clean but i want to do a better job.

I've been reading a lot about the Caig Laboratories products for cleaning / treating rca ends etc. You might want to research up on this cleaner:

Do a search for Caig under tweakers in Audio Asylum. Lots of info there. I think Parts Express also carries the product.

:D I am really glad the project turned out, DIY is real neat and worth 10x if it turns out better than expected. It is always good to get your hands on things. Have fun Ace, enjoy the future projects. I have to manufacture cables for work from time to time, and it is really satisfying to have something you make, actually work.

Thanks for the info!!! Ill look into the caig products later today! My system needs a full cleaning. Not looking forward to taking all the equip off the rack & cleaning all the contacts & connectors but its time to do it!
