A kick ass $1000 universal pretty much sums it up.

I've never been happier with mine. I tossed the idea of changing manufactures from Sony to Denon for weeks. Just like after purchasing my SVS, I'll never look back.:D

Yup, I am already talking with these people about refurbed denon 3805's.... They don't have them in yet though... gotta start getting returns and such first.. I spoke with them this morning on the phone, answered right away , knew right what i was talking about... a few good signs... and they sell on e-bay also... on the denon authorized list as well

Denon 2200 is fantastic also, in the 500-600 range. But, if you don't calibrate your tv, it really doesn't matter. :)

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

WE "DAKMART" offer an exclusive 1 year warranty on these items.....

Faster, HERE (http://www.dakmart.com/website/ItemDetail.asp?ItemId=41296&cID=19) is the link for the 3805 on their site. I would assume that they wouldn't list it if it wasn't available.......Maybe worth another call....It doesn't seem like a bargain at $850, but i guess that's all in the eyes of the one lookin to purchase.

brett, as you may know, often discounters will "front" for the warranty. Seems strange they'd do this with Denon given that they are a Denon Authorized dealer. Below is copied from Denon's web-site:

That's what sounded odd to me......no biggie, warranty is a warranty, but I'd prefer not to deal with another company fronting the warranty, if it's touted as with Denon Warranty.....just a me thing probably...

However this statement on their site makes me think that they do use Denon for warranty work.

BE VERY CAREFUL OUT THERE... If you do not buy from an authorized DENON Dealer, DENON WILL NOT honor the warranty and you will not receive any updates, upgrades or support. DENON'S technicians are among the best in the business... DO NOT give that up!!! If you buy from a dealer who is not authorized, you are taking a risk that the serial # may have been tampered with or removed...
I guess you could always give them a ring or email to see who does their warranty work.

Well, I should have my Denon 2900 by my birthday next week. HBTM, HBTM, HBTM................HBTM.....:D :D :D

Edit: The only thing that I don't like about Denon is their dated displays......they realy need to look at changing that.....

My God do I hate UPS......The driver in my area hits our complex no earlier than 6pm, which is after the office closes, and before I'm typically home.

I HOPE to have the 2900 in my grubby lil hands tonight.......

Well, I finally got the 2900 installed (avter having it for 3 days) and have a few quick thoughts:

The packing from DAKMART is pretty weak IMO. It's the player, wrapped once (maybe once and a half) in big bubble wrap and then surrounded with peanut-esque stuff. I'm just not a big fan of those things. There was no damage and the unit is in excellent condition.

The display is better than I had anticipated. I'm not a big fan of the dated dot matrix'd displays, but it doesn't look as bad as some DM'd displays I've seen all things considering.

Weird thing when turning the unit on from it's standby mode: The TV gets the signal all jumbled for a moment, then will black out and then show the DVD info. Just a little quirky IMO.

I've only popped in a few dvd's for brief scenes and there is DEFINITELY a need to re-watch movies to hear things I wasn't with my other player. I must have watched the KILL BILL Oh-ren ISHI scene 20 times prior to this player and with the 2900, there's a bass track that was completely missing with the old one. I looked at a few scenes of NEMO and I dont' recall the movie looking so dimensional on my set. The colors are vivid and the lines are very crisp with the images, though it's been a LONG time since I watched the movie at all, so I'm not all too positive how it looked on the old one. It's going to be the nuances I think that you will see the big differences in what this player can/will do.

I like the tray. It seems to have some sort of material on it (different than the hard plastic every other player has) that is softer which I would anticipate is there to protect against scratching. Doc or anyone else, can you verify this to be the case?

I don't own any DVD-A's or SACD's, so this player most likely won't be used for them.

All in all, I'm lookin forward to watching stuff again.........in a few weeks since i'm starting to travel again.

I had a 2900 but then returned it and moved up to the 5900. The 2900 I had was having problems with the Alien box set dvd's and a few others. It kept hanging on the DTS tracks.

I haven't had a problem with the 5900.
