Concensus on Channel Island gear

Just from the little I've read about them they seem to be a pretty reputable and quality firm. Don't they have some guy from AA?

I currently have a Ch. Island HPPS power supply for my AA DLC. Anyway, would $250 be too much to pay for one of their new DAC's?

Can't testify as to the SQ or value based upon listening, but I'd guess both are fairly high based upon the AA legacy.

Dusty Vawter was a technician at AA and started Channel after AA's demise. Initially it was an AA repair and upgrade business.

Channel Islands offered upgrades of the AA DDE v3.0 which is on ebay for ~$200 fairly often. I've seen them go as low as $150 and as high as $300 depending on condition, power supply, etc. So $350 for the Channel Islands isn't too bad at all. $510 for it and the upgraded PS is getting up there a bit though.

Dusty also worked with Richard Liddell, a former AA engineer, designing power supplies for Monolithic Sound.

I've got the CI passive preamp on my short list, for whatever that's worth. Supposed worth every penny, and then some.
