All of a sudden, I only get sound out of my center channel when I watch t.v. using prologic 2. The only change I made was upgrading my center channel (alpha center) to a bigger center channel (alpha 37c). Before I made this change, prologic 2 would play sound out of all speakers as normal. Now, it will only play out of the center channel when watching t.v. When I play dvds or music, it my receiver (onkyo tsxr501) works fine. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Can you try hooking up your old center again and see what happens?

I'd be reluctant to think it's an issue with the speaker, but might as well try it...

....no, unfortunately I can't put the old center back. I traded it in for my new one. That was the only change I made to my whole system so it doesn't make sense why all of a sudden it would change the whole sound field but something changed. I checked all the receiver settings I could think of and still no luck.

I wouldn't think it would be the speaker...but I've seen wierder things...

Somehow you need to rule that out as a possibility...Do you have another speaker somewhere you can hook up to that channel? Maybe one of your surrounds?

yeah, I have an old sony box set that I can take one of the speakers and do a quick test. The strange thing is that it is only the prologic 2 mode when I watch t.v. that changed. Every other mode works fine.

Yeah, sound strange for sure...at least this will rule out the new center and you can start troubleshooting other areas...

Let us know what you come up with...

It's probably not this but just in case.....did you maybe bump the speaker A on/off button on the receiver? I work in retail and you would be surprised how often this comes up.

I finally figured it out. Out of all things, it was my CABLE BOX!!!! I had to get it replaced. Somehow it was sending a bad signal or something. ...the good thing is that it wasn't my home theater equip. Thanks for the help though guys.
