There seems to be a problem with the player not being able to play all DVD-A's. The article went on to say that a firmware update is or soon will be available from Pioneer. If you own one you might want to check the Pioneer website for more info.

That sucks, I thought it was going to be something cool like there was an easy workaround so you could get send a 192/24 signal through the digital outs
I still think it's silly that we have to pay for expensive DAC's in both the source and the receiver/processor, when we only use one or the other... in the futute maybe all DVD-players will have video processing only, and act as a transport to pass the digital audio signal

except I don't think you'll see SACD being able to pass through digital outputs until they can find a better way to control copying of material...
That's why it only plays through the analog outs you know...so that we can't record it digitally...
