i got 2 MM12 's in the box enclosures, and im trying to find a polk/momo amp for them. the subs are 500 rms each i think, im not too sure though. i was told i would need two amps for them, not sure if it was the c300 or c500 amps. so if anybody could give me any info, that would help me alot!

well this is weird couse that c500.1 amp puts out 500 wattsx1at 2 ohm and 350 wattsx1 at 4 ohm and them subs are 4 ohm subs.and the c300.2 puts out 500 wattsx1 at 4 ohm but thats bridged.id try and go with another amp like phoenix gold if i were you.

you were probably rec'd two 300.2 amps, they will match your subs quite well.

thanx for that info, but could yall help me with this other question? im thinking about getting the mm6 midbass with the tweets, would i need to get a c500 amp for that? and what would be the best way to set up my mm12s to get the best sound

well as i am told the sealed is the best for the mm12's

mmm... no, the 300.2 is best for the mm6's too. and yes, sealed will give you the best sound quality out of any subwoofer. the momo subs can't handle anything else, their suspension is too dependant on the sealed system (which isn't a bad thing, they are a damn fine product, they just have to be in a sealed box).

yea i still have the subs in the original sealed box. but i was wonderin which way i could face the subs in the car to get the best sound. Will the two c300 amps power the two subs and the mm6?...i appreciate all the help

no, for 2 subs and an mm6, you'd need 3 300.2 amps total - one for each sub and another for the mm6s. generally, you face the subs towards the rear of the car when the box is up against the rear seat/bench. this gives the sound a bit of room to expand (or this is a good concept to keep in mind anyway). then, you check phase from there.

ok..when ya buy a mm6, thats only one speaker and one tweet right..so if i wanted one on each side of the car, i would need four amps in all? thats goin to be pricey

no
when you buy any set of speakers you get 2 of everything
except subs
but if you buy some 6.5" speakers, you get 2 of em
if you buy a component set(the mm6 is a component set)
then you get 2 6.5" speakers, 2 tweeters, and 2 crossovers
that is the mm6 set
its not 1 6.5 and 1 tweeter
and you need 1 amp to power the mm6 set

i dunno, i've never heard it; maybe i'm destined to be an insurance salesman
if you're looking to upgrade the subs or other speakers later, to something much larger, you may want to step up the wiring (bigger wire/smaller gauge number). just a thought.

the momos need a 40 hour break in period

40 hour minimum. as long as you can stand it, for maximum assurance of durability.

i heard alot of people say around 75 hours. sounds like a long time to me, but dont think i need to do it that long will i? i know that will break them in correctly..but still ya know..

i believe it was thomas that recently gave the guideline of "1/4 volume for 2 weeks, then slam the shit out of them." sounds good to me.

what easier is just to have good self control:
set your amp down to 1/4 of what you're going to run... play that for a while, you'll get used to having real sound...
then turn it to 1/2 for a while, then 3/4 , then 100% of what your reg listening will be... This is much easier than trying to force your self to listen to it really low... I know I cant.
But nevertheless, i re-break in my old DB12's anytime i've had em out of the car for a while (I plan on keping them)

i have no self control
the subs in my truck are numbers 5 and 6
blew out 1-4...oops
i cracked the spider on the original mm120s...no idea how i pulled that off
they gave me the mm12s which started hitting the grill
they had a recall on them at the time b/c they were hitting the grill so i sent them back
got my new ones and they still hit the grill
maybe they should recall the grills?

LMAO Cody. Yes, what IS up with the grilles not handling the XMax... they know we're going to use all the susp. those mm's have.

since the grilles are touted as being based off of momo's quasar 2 wheel, maybe the idea was more form over function, and that the whole sub-has-to-work thing was more of an afterthought.
