Friday, I'm stopped in traffic and low and behold the lady coming up on me does not. She locked'em up but hit me doing about 35-40. I had enough room in front of me so as I was not pushed into that car.
My bumper is trashed as is the left rear shock (from her front bumper) and a scratch on the rear hatch, her car is totaled.
Sorry about the poor quality of the pics, I was a bit shaken at the time I took'em.

I hope you and the other driver are ok. This is a visual testimony why folks like to drive the big SUVs.
I know that feeling of being stopped...looking in your rear view mirror....and saying to youself "OH S**T...I'm going to get hit!" (3 times so far - and only 1 out of 3 did the other guy have insurance)

The good news is yes, everyone is OK. She first requested medical attention and then passed and had her friend pick her up. I did not talk to her at all, just passed info through the Highway Patrol.
I'm totally fine, didn't even wake up the next morning sore at all. Not sure about her though.
She was uninsured. Not sure how the law works but I believe here in CA she gets cited, looses her license for 3 years and pays a $1,000 fine. Again, I'd have to double check but that is what I was told.
I've always owned or driven the larger cars/trucks. I won't drive or let my wife drive these small compact cars. Luckily, this is a company SUV so it's not mine to deal with. They just got me a full size, lifted, Dodge extra cab truck to drive until it's repaired.

Good to hear you are ok.
Looks like you both were headed right into the sun?
Cheers,

Exactly right. Every morning I drive directly into it and every evening I drive, directly into it. It makes it very hard to see in front of you and I'm willing to bet this is why she hit me.
I put on about 40k mile per year so my odds of getting into these messes are greatly increased. Just lucky I've not been in anything worse, yet.
By the way, here is a pic of my older company Dodge Durango thanks to a guy who turned left in front of me about 8 months ago.

Glad everyone is OK. Don't like to hear about the non-insurance issue, FWIW at least it's a company vehicle and you don't have to pay out of your personal insurance.
Man, that sun looks effin killer!! I'd have to come in late or somethin', damn..
I live in NJ. We have the highest insurance in the country, and the people are so fet up they're voting people out of office because of it. So the Ins. companies are making "token" concessions, but WATCH OUT if you have any claims or tickets. It really blows...

Gald everyone is OK. Did she at least hang up her cell phone after she hit you :D .
My wife was hit from behind by a young girl who was talking on a cell phone (she saw her from the rear view mirror). She immediately tossed it under her seat after the accident.

Luckily you have the company working in your favor. I was hit at a stoplight from behind at 40 MPH and launched into cross traffic through the intersection. My car was totaled. The lady totaled her car and knocked over a traffic light. She was drunk and they could do the breathalyzer because of possible head trauma. When they finally got her to the hospital and doing a blood test she was just under the Wisconsin legal limit. She was not cited for drunk driving. She had NO insurance and filed for bankruptcy.
In the end I got ZERO money to even replace my loss to my car. It was only worth about $3000, but at 21 and in college I couldn't afford a new car or not to have one. She had no insurance either.
All I got out of that was this lousy bad back. :(
Hope your story turns out better. Glad nobody was hurt.

Ron,
Glad you're ok. Maybe the company should get you a Hummer next. :D

Glad to hear you're all right, Ron. Thank goodness she wasn't driving a Hummer...
I was hit one-time in 1980 and that was plenty. I was dead stopped at a light and a fella going home from a party "didn't see me". Police estimated he was doing 50 mph when he hit me.
Only time in my life I've been KO'd. Every muscle in my body ached for the next two-days, which were both spent in the hospital...
