As you can see attached couple of the wires came loose...maybe in shipping or damage already done dunno, but can i re-solder them back without and will they work? Thanks

heck yeah you can resolder them... you can even use wire to splice it back together, as long as its as thick as the wire coming from the capacitor or what not.. easy fix

Don't use wire to patch it, you will change the DC inductance, there by changing the overall Q of the drivers, which will then audibly alter the sound of the speaker itself.

Solder it yourself, or get someone else to.

well it looks like some of the leads are broke off, so i wouldnt think a 1" piece of wire would alter the resistence.... maybe im wrong, in which case i guess you should get new componets to do it properly...

Well, its not so important on the Cap you see in the first picture, but the inductor in the second picture is made of a certain length AND guage of wire, wrapped around probably an iron core. The value of that inductor is based on the guage and length of the wire wrapped around it.

You see where I'm headed, and that precise measurement could be altered? Just FYI, thats all.

You do bring up a point though, if I was faced with the same situation, I would repair the inductor connection, and buy new, upgraded caps and resistors (of the same value), and upgrade them, while I'm there anyway.

Cheers,
Russ

I agree, such short wire repair I don't think would change anything. The wire would be only add to end feed wire, it wouldn't change the Coil mh rating.

I think it's a fact that it would change, but I guess the real question is would it change enough to 'bother' you at the end of the day, sound wise.

It would F with me regardless, so I'd do it right the first time, rather than second guess it later.

Ok, if you think so. Such a small wire added to end, I wouldn't think so. But been known to be wrong.

BTW, looking at that picture I wonder if he would even need any wire.

Yes i do agree, if its a coil.. it can change values... i used to be into Cb/ham radios alot.. and when i tuned up the wattage and modulation, we would spread apart the coils in the rear of the units by the output transisters to increas modulation swing and overall wattage... per the old man i knew told me about... and i watched for hours on end learning about them.... if its broke off, change it.. the caps as said should be ok with a wire extension to get you by.....

Thanks, may have learned something new today.

Or I was told something 2 times, but this one sunk in?
