Still on my quest for the next step up. Looking at the Rotel pre/pros RSP-1098 v RSP1068. TThe 1098 is way cool with that LCD display but at $1300 more than the 1068 seems a little pricey for the audio improvement and additional video connections. The Parasound C2 at $4000 is also a little steep.

RSP-1068, why question any further? LCD's are a novelty, up to and including the Parasound. Good luck.

Have you looked into Sunfire (http://www.sunfire.com/TheaterGrandIV.htm) ?

Not sure what th TG IV is going for but you could find a TG III pretty reasonable...

Just a thought...

I have a variety of new toys on the way so it'll take a little while to get them set up and dialed in.

jns,
Take a look at B&K's Ref 50. Recent price drop to around $1700, has made it a very worthy contender.

Take a look at the Anthem AVM20. There is a used one being sold at www.canuckaudiomart.ca under the pre/pro sections.

This unit will dust all others mentioned. I have even considered this unit with the Sonic Frontiers upgrades for two channel audio. It will get you to a Bryston SP1 level for home theater and better it with the Chris Johnson upgrades in two channel for half the price.
