...I'm OUT!
No, I'm not 'leaving the forum', or looking for sympathy or even replies.
A good friend of mine has been diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer, and just had a liver biopsy to see if it has spread there also. Chemo treatments will start in the next couple of days. The guy just got the news, and gets real choked up easily and understandibly right now, so I don't have all the details.
Part of the 'worst case' preparation is going to involve a lot of help on my part, moving a ton of audio items for him. When I say a 'ton', I mean it. This guy makes me look like amateur hour. It won't be give-away stuff, and a lot of it will be high-end gear. I'm happy to look for something you need, and will bring it in under market - but cannot 'give' the stuff away. Like I said, this is preparation for the worst case scenario, to take care of his beloved wife and 13 yr old adopted daughter.
I'll try to check in from time to time, but if you need to contact me, do so via email or telephone. I'd consider PM's un-reliable at this point.
Anyone I have a deal going with, or even something in just the discussion stage, it's still 100% valid. Burdette, MadMax, Spastic, Danger, etc. Let's just take it to email / phone at this point. Same goes to anyone wanting to come by, PolkManiac, etc.
If you are the praying type, just say a word for "Russ' friend", if you can. It would be appreciated.
Good luck to everyone in their audio (and personal) endeavors. I've had a lot of fun here, and have enjoyed shooting the shit, telling audio lies, and the great transactions I've had with all of you.
See you on the flip side.
Cheers,
Russ

On February 24th I lost a great friend to lung cancer, at the memorial for him I was asked to say a few things about him, I didnt rehearse or anything, it was unreal to be able to do something like that. His biggest asset was acceptance, after all the chemo and other drugs didnt help he gave it to the man above, that was a Sunday... on Tuesday at 6:10PM he quit breathing and was removed from pain.
Russ... I will pray, your friend is in my thoughts as well as his family. Its not a done deal yet so give the meds a chance.

Russ,
Sorry to hear that about your good friend. He is lucky to have someone like you in such a crisis. That is what true friendships are all about. You strike me as an individual who wouldn't even think twice about removing the shirt off your back to help someone out and you have shown that as well here many times.
Cancer can be beat and my prayers are with your friend as well.

Russ, Both you and your friend will be is in my thoughts. I know the road you will be traveling, It is a tough road ahead, you will fell overwhelmed at times.....Keep the faith, depending on the type of cancer cells, CANCER CAN BE BEAT.
Let us know if there is anything that we can do to help...moral support or any questions about cancer and Chemo.
My wife's mom was diagnosed with Cancer early last December. IT had metabolized and moved into the Brain in at least 4 locations when it was determined she had cancer. She was on radiation therapy and chemo, now She is on Chemo indefinitely and chemo will take a lot out of a person. Her cancer is not curable only controllable.
