why can't i play a sacd format cd in a standard dvd or cd player , do i need another player just to play these cd's or do some dvd players have the ability to play them?

There are several players out there that play multiple formats. The Pioneer DVD 563A is a good inexpensive solution, will play SACD, DVD-A, and other formats...
I've got that player, and it works great when you get it setup...

thanks plkamaniac, my phillips my even play them , i haven't tried , it plays everything else dvd+-r , kodack picture disc's etc . someone told me i would need a seperate player for sacd's . i'll read the players manual and check it out.
