I know that this may be redundant or may have been answered before, but I just bought some banana plugs (monster brand) to use with my speaker cable (standard monster 12 guage). I'd like to know how to connect them. There are no directions on the package, and obviously slipping the copper in to the little hole doesn't result in a tight fit. The wire just slides right out. I've seen some talk of heat shrink tubing, but is that enough? Would the tubing keep the wire from sliding out, or do I need to do something else. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are they the threaded type? You should be able to screw down the banana for a tight fit...

Are they this type? This is the kind I use with 10 AWG Sound King wire with good results.

No, mine are not the kind with the black rubber on the bottom. They are simply the plug tops. Although they are threaded, the speaker wire is too thin to do anything with. Did I buy the wrong type of plug?

If you go to this link, you'll see what speaker connectors Monster Cable has available:

Speaker Connectors (http://www.monstercable.com/home_av/connectors/speaker.asp)

Which ones do you have?

I have the Monster Locks, but I'm not going to use them after all. I'm going to return them. I broke down and bought some cable from Better Cables that are already terminated with banana plugs. Thanks for the help, tho.
