Has anyone had probs with deep/well amped subs and their pets? I know their hearing is more sensitive than ours ? we are thinking of a new sub..thanks for the choices out there itll be either SVS or HSU...we also live in a garden home..so I don't want killer bass but I want more than the psw202..as well as nothing that will harm our lil pooch !!

The pooch is more apt to object to the high end frequencies ... Ours sometimes objects to how bass moves objects in the room and I'm sure it's somewhat unsettling given that he doesn't realize that it's only HT, not the house falling in on itself but it's the top end that makes his ears twitchy.

I think most domestic animals are more sensitive to higher pitched sounds. Heck, if I want to call my friend's dog I have to use a higher pitched voice. My cat has responded just fine to lots of loud bass. He hates the surround sound though. Kinda freaks him out. :D I'm no vet, but I think you should be fine.

it's pretty much what I thought I just wanted to see how other animals have/not reacted

I think it depends on the animal. If someone has a dog that is unusually frightened by thunder storms, I'd suggest being careful with a really deep subwoofer and some DVD sound effects. Dogs can sense the low frequency portion of the sound of thunder (I think the term is infrasonic) long before people can, and will run to find a "safe" place. It's instinctive for dogs to do this. Keep the bass in the range of human hearing and there should be no problem with most animals. Surround sound seems to bother some dogs more than bass because they hear everything but can't seem to tell where sounds are coming from sometimes. I don't know about cats--never had one.

Our dog, birds and fish seem to care less. The dog (a beagle) has occasionally jumped at the higher sounds, like gunshots, but only at levels that I shouldn't be listening.

If my little Border Terrier didn't bolt out of the room when I had my SVS cranked, something would either be wrong with him, or my SVS..........and both are doing just fine, thank you. ;)

3 cats in company of a SVS. Kinda cool ...when they hear classical
or new age music they come into listen to it. Seems they relax the same way as I do.
Movies with alot of boom they tend to leave.
