Are the rti100s (as badged here) 4 or 8ohm impedance speaker. The reason i ask is in my manual it is stated at 4ohm. It took me a couple of days to get the nerve to hook them up as my recvr stated a 6ohm min. They go fine tho (probably the best and most significant improvement until i added the Denon flagship amp).

Keep in mind also that the ohm rating is variable...

The resistance a speaker has will vary based on what is being fed to it. An 8 ohm speaker will frequenctly dip down below 8 in some instances, sometimes down to or even below 4 ohms...

Its not a problem as my amp is fine with them, just that i had a look at the on-line manual and it said 8ohm. Just wondered which one was correct.4 or 8 either way they kick ass!

Most of the RT line manuals were a misprint - they said 4 ohms instead of 8.

I believe it was the RTixxx line that had the misprint, and the line before it - I believe.

I've been running my 100s in the 8 om setting without a problem.

Thanks was just out of curiosity, I could've just rung the shop but that wouldve been no fun. Flyin the polk flag in good ol NZ, yeah thats me.

The speakers themselves are 8 ohm nominal, but as was stated above they can dip below that for short periods of time. You can't control the level in which the speakers run unless you get into running 2 pairs of speakers in series where the ohm rating of the 2 sets will half, so 2 pair of 8 ohm speakers would be running at a 4ohm level due to the draw on the amp. You can do that with any speakers, but the question is can your amp handle that.

cwa, you can run the 800's fine on any receiver. The problem comes into play when people try running 4 and 2 ohm speakers on a basic receiver and wonder why the thing is glowing red......

I meant the 100's......it was late and I was apparently hung up on the 4 and 8 numbers......
