I've seen these once before also and thought they were cool. What kind of speaker connectors are these? These would make things much easier to hook up on the back of the receiver...

Am I missing something here? They look like run of the mill banana connectors to me. Or did you mean which brand name?

Looks like banana plugs to me. You can find good deals on ebay for them.

Yep, just regular RCA banana's. You can pick em up at Radio Shack for fairly cheap.

They are Radio Shack banana plugs of the compression screw together type. I'd recommend using these with 12 AWG speaker wire only because that seems to fit them best.

yes, you guys are right:D

I bought these banana plugs and speaker wires from RS when they were running 5$ off everthing. These plugs are very easy to assemble with 12 AWG wires. I got some plugs off ebay but they were not as good as RS's.

I've never used connectors, just use the plain wire....

I though banana plugs were just a solid connector that you put on the end of the speaker wire but still connected through the hole like regular speaker wire...

That, Mr. Maniac, is what is known as a pin connector.

Here is an example: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=091-531

some people have the opinion that bare wires are not good for long time use...

Those plugs are not as good looking as RS's :)

This is certainly true. Bare copper wire will corrode over time.

But I always find it funny when someone says "using a connector will stop the wire from corroding". I've yet to see a connector that is air tight. It would require an airtight connector to prevent corrosion (assuming you never touched the copper wire with your fingers in the first place, to prevent skin oil from getting on the wire).

Don't get me wrong, I use connectors on all my speaker wire ends. It makes connections much easier, especially to the reciever.

Or solder.

That too. Good point. But try soldering a wire to a naner connector and having it look good. I'm sure it can be done if you're good with a soldering iron.
