I've recenly noticed an annoying hum (probably 60 Hz) from my RMDS-1 at all times except if the power is turned off at the sub.

I have made sure that all componets connected to the system share the the same power and phase.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a ground loop problem with the sub amp.

I take it that the noise wasn;t there before and now is; right? What changed in the meantime? Did you add cable TV or satellite or a new component? Most likely this is a ground loop issue and that may have been caused by a new ground being added to the system. Experiment to faind the cause - disconnect the cable or DSS 75 Ohm coax cable from the system and see if the hum goes away. If yes, you need a ground loop isolator. If no, reconnect it, plug all the system components into oine terminal strip and lift the ground (use one of those three prong to two prong adaptors at the wall socket). If the hum goes away, then it is definitely a ground loop issue, solved by lifting the grounds of one component at a time until it goes away. If not then ther MAY be something wrong with the amp in the subwoofer. Let's take one step at a time.

I had the same problem. I solved it by simply plugging the power cord into a 2-prong cheater-plug (without the 3rd grounding prong).
