Ok here is the issue at hand. I have been saving up money to replace my PSW350. I have $1,500 saved up, but now I have second thoughts on spending it all on a sub. I originally was looking at the SVS PB1-Plus but the size is soooo much larger than my current sub; and we all know we have to keep the wife happy.
Then I started reading reviews and got mesmerized by the Sunfire True Subwoofer EQ. This sub is smaller than my current one and is a beast. All the reviews I have read about it are awesome.
Then I thought perhaps I can spend less on my sub and save some of that money to put towards a new TV, since I only have a 27" screen. I work at CC and can get the PSW505 for $218 shipped. That’s $1,000 I could save by getting the Polk sub which is barley larger than my current PSW350.
Please give me your thoughts. Am I wasting my money on the performance of the PSW505, will I be disappointed? Or will I be happy with the performance, plus having some extra coin towards a new TV......

Please buy a larger TV - a 27" the shame. All of the money. Really you have to upgrade that tv........
A PB1 Plus with a 27" tv - that JP T-Rex standing 7" tall would shack the entire house. I'm dieing over - :D
Why PB1+ and not PB2+ or PCU? If it was my choice, I would get a new TV and one of the PCi series subs or PB1-ISD.
SVS - will outperform the sunfire in the lower frequencies in clean output.
I would go with the SVS PCi 25-31 with the free 22hz tune and a tv...

I agree with Trey - or just a much bigger tv.

Damn, 505 back on accomodations again, I'll have to get a third one. Get a 505 and a 36" TV.

I can’t go with the PCi subs, won't fly with wife. It has to be a standard box sub, that will fit in the same location mine is now.

Believe it or not, the 16" diameter cylinder might fit in tighter spots than the box. Remember you've got to have some air space for the box sub. Do what I did before buying my SVS, cut a 16" circle in cardboard or whatever, and try placing it where your sub needs to go--you might be pleasantly surprised...
I picked-up my 36" Panasonic TV at Sears on sale for $439. Talk about a steal. I lost a testicle getting it on the stand though...so it actually ran me $9,789.35 :D

If the problem is the look, then go with the PB1. If the problem is just space then 25-31PCi (preferably tuned lower).
Then the important question...room size and shape?

sorry you lost a gonad. :p
direct view TV's are nut busters that's for sure. I can't imagine lifting a 40" Sony

Problem is space and looks; can't have a vertical cylinder because it won’t go right with her decor. And the size, well it has to fit where it is now. I can only go about two inches larger in width, about two inches in height, and about one inch in length. So it cuts down my decisions greatly

Solution for that is to upgrade the GF/wife. Just joking. PB1-ISD looks to be your only choice then from SVS. If that is too big, maybe HSU STF-2?

I agree with the Hsu STF-2. It's just as good as the SVS PB1 or 25-31 with a smaller footprint and it's cheaper. Also get a 36" TV and you'll have money left over to upgrade another component like your receiver.

Well I ordered the PSW505 for now; I can use that in my system and see how I like. This will give me more time to find dealers in my area to check out Sunfire subs. Even though there are no SVS or HSU dealers I think I have enough positive feedback from the forum about them :p Plus I should be able to sell the Polk when I decide on which sub to go with, without losing any money on it.

What evidence do you have to support this statement?

onecall.com is blowing out Velo CHT-15's for $478.00. That would leave plenty for a bigger TV.

That box is WAY to big, just like the SVS
