Not my favorite band, and they don't play a lot of my favorite songs, BUT, I've never heard a "live" album before that made me want to be at the concert as bad as The Who's "Live at Leeds" which was one helluva show. "Summertime Blues" is superb.

Eric Clapton - Just One Night
The Allman Brothers - At The Fillmore East (coming on SACD in August)
Lou Reed - Rock n Roll Animal
Roxy Music - Viva!
Albert Collins And The Icebreakers - Live In Japan
Little Feat - Waiting For Columbus (I was there)
Lonnie Mack - Attack Of The Killer V
The Rolling Stones - Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out
And last bit not least, George's choice and mine for the best live performance ever........The Who - Live At Leeds

Frampton Comes Alive!
Fleetwood Mac - I think its "Chains" or "The Chains"
John Mayer - Any Given Thursday*
* Just a word about the John Mayer CD. I wouldn't call myself a John Mayer fan. I think he is a bit of a teeny bopper. The songs released on the regular CD's are a bit to pop music sounding for me. BUT, the "Any Given Thursday" 2 CD set, live from Birmingham, is GREAT! The songs are all different, alot of jamming. Each track goes on for like 5 to 7 minutes. Alot of instrument playing, without the cheesy lirics. Highly recommend this 2 disc live set.:)

Maurice,
Whats does your mom say about that ... "music". ?
Ohhhh (whiney goth voice) the Sirens of hopeless epiphanies transcend this cold and bitter soul into the flicker of a mighty flame once more... (rolls eyes).

I'm surprised it took so long for "How the West Was Won" to show up on this thread. Sure the DVD is great, but the 3-CD live set is something really special. Excellent sound, and some really great cues. The live "Over the Hills and Far Away" is a real gem, and I think the Stairway to Heaven on the CD is better than the DVD version. A real fan has both.
The Fleetwood Mac live album from the 90's is called The Chain, also on DVD. That's a pretty damn good one.
Paul McCartney-Back in the USA is great.
Niel Young/Crazy Horse live album is excellent-Cinnamon Girl rocks!

She hates them with a passion:).
Whiney??? Now way! I call it screams of agony, pain and despair backed up by a seductive female vamp soprano. The lyrics are amazing too.

Maurice,
I got Nightwish's "once" today. Not bad, although I feel as if I should dye my hair, (after growing it shoulder length), start smoking, get a few tatoo's, nose rings, - to truly enjoy it.
Man, their lyrics are medicore at best. Creative, but nothing special. Regardless, its leagues beyond the top 50 crap thats put on the radio these days.

Sean,
That's awesome. Glad you like it. I went to the store last week and they're sold out:(.
I agree about the lyrics. They're not very good. But when I listen to them, I don't even pay attention to the lyrics. I just listen to Tarja's voice flowing smoothly with all the other insrtruments.
From what I've heard on the single, "Once" is probably one of their mellower album. "Century Child" is my favorite right now. Can't really comment on "once" yet since I'm still waiting for my copy.
LOL! Nightwish fans are actually 'normal'. They just like to dress in black but only a few have the piercings and all that crap.
I have shoulder length hair and I smoke:)

My favorite live R&R album is Little Feat's "Waiting for Columbus". It's already been mentioned several times above, but I invoke it once more to say what a great sounding live recording it is. The MoFi remastered 2-LP version is outstanding. The fairly new Rhino 2-CD set with a number of bonus tracks is also quite good.
Another good, and good sounding, live record was Bob Seger's "Live Bullet".
"Live at Leeds" is very good but still not my fave (and I am a big 'OO fan).
My favorite live "pop" recording, though, is probably Patty Larkin's excellent solo acoustic CD "a gogo". Patty's a great guitarist/singer/songwriter who deserves to be better-known than she is. This is a good sounding document of some excellent performances.
