I was just reading this review over at Audiorevolution.com, and it mentions Sandy Gross. It says he helped launch the Polk & Def Tech brands. Has anyone heard of Sandy Gross before? What was his involment with Polk? Does Polk & Def Tech have any ties currently?
Just curious here, fishing for info....

Sandy Gross was VP of Marketing of Polk Audio. He joined Matt Polk and George Klopfer as a partner about 2 years after Matt and George formed the company. Sandy was a major contributor to the start up and growth of Polk in the early and middle years. He was the father of the massive advertising campaigns Polk ran in the early to mid eighties, including the ads that featured Matt in the lab coat. Sandy left Polk in '88 and later (1990?) founded Definitive Technology along with Don Girot (sp?) and Ed Blais (sp?) who were Polk's former Canadian distributors. Sandy is a very shrewd judge of what is commercially viable in a product and one of the best advertising minds in the industry. Having recruited and hired me, he is also a brilliant judge of talent, . :) Sandy and Matt remain good friends and continue to share an interest in music and collecting pre-columbian artifacts.

Thanks Paul, just what I was looking for.
I'll understand if you can't answer this, but has Polk and Def Tech (or any other brand, for that matter) ever colaborated, or joined forces or anything like that?

That's an easy one to answer. No. We've collaborated with electronics companies from time to time but never directly with another speaker company. Oh, let me take that back, we did invest in a small tweaky speaker company that has since gone out of business (that was a bad decision). No, I'd rather not give you details just to avoid embarrassing anyone.
Did it start with an "E"?
Hey Paul, got a few questions for ya. If you would so kindly shoot me a simple E-mail at your convienence:

Sort of. That E company (Eosone) was a wholly owned subsidiary of Polk Audio so not another company per se. There was another company that we invested in.
