Voom service

I would like to switch to Voom in the fall because they do not require a long-term contract and I will only require service from August-December. I was wondering if I will be able to use their service without having a land phone line to connect the recievers to. I wrote Voom with this question and they responded that it was required, but I do remember Directv told us they required the same when I started with them a year ago and we got along fine without a phone line. Can anyone tell me if this will be required? Thanks,
