Circuit City Buy one get 2nd Half Off

I was at Circuit City yesterday and was informed that in addition to the RTi discounted price that they are now buy one and the 2nd is half price. I picked up a new set off Rti 6's for a $195. The store was in Orange County New York. Hope this helps the deal hunters out there.

Yesterday I picked up a pair of RTi10s at CC for $202.50 each. I was tickled. It was the Fairview Hts, IL store, for those interested, and they had 2 left. They had 8's for $218 each. I didn't look at any others.

The 8's are on sale for $160 each in Santa Rosa, CA (near San Francisco).

Every store seems to be a litte different. Worse still, the info they give you on the phone and the displayed prices are also different. In Chicago (Lincoln Park) they told me the RTi6 was $130 each on the phone, but in store it was $114.95. Plus, after selling me a pair and charging my card, they had no stock in the rear. So they got it from another store and I had to make a second trip. They did give me a break so I ended up getting them for $200 for the pair. The time and hassle was ridiculous - I spent over 2 hours just trying to buy a pair of speakers, and CC cust service at that store is plain pathetic. The do not answer the phone, transfer you around to dead extensions etc. Amazing that they sell anything. <end of rant>

at least you get decent deals like this. i live right across the street from a CC and i have NEVER seen deals anywhere close to those listed here. seems like the CC's in Austin keep stuff priced close to retail forever.

WOW , you guys are getting some nice deals .
I can't complain though as I just got my RTi6's about 3-4 weeks ago for $245 (new) .

If anyone runs across a pair of FXi3's for a nice discount , pleeeeese post it .
If I get a set of FXi3's for a nice deal , then I'll be more than willing to sell my RTi4's (w/150 break-in hours only) here at the forums for a very nice (deal) price .

Dont get me wrong , I LUV my 4's , but Iam currenty "wanting to" change the listening position of my current setup to better suit the room .

OK, all this talk of good deals got me to calling a few CC around the area. I found a CC w/an open box RTi 10's for, get this, $389 ea.

I bought a second pair of RTi8's for $222 each yesterday. Right now CC is very inconsistent about closeout pricing on the Polks. You have to watch your local store closely. I bought my first pair of 8's for $250 each (and it included the PSW202 sub!). I wanted a second pair for SACD listening but told myself that it had to be a good price. There are 2 stores within 30 minutes of my house so I kept checking. One completely sold out before I could buy them. The other only had one pair left still priced at 308. I happened to catch it when they went down to 222. I may not have gotten the best deal, but I feel it's a pretty good one for a nice speaker that I like.

I agree ... CC's prices are far from constant , even at the same store (branch) .
The Temecula store in Calif , had (have) a set of RTi12's demos in MINT condition . A week or so ago they were at a selling price of $800 a pair ; but as of yesterday , that SAME pair is back up to $1150+ :rolleyes: . They even had a new sign on the 12's spouting "CLEARANCE SALE" . Give me a break ...the old price of $800 is/was a nice CLEARANCE price not the current $1100-$1200 .
I have seen this type of price fluctuation ALOT lately at all the CC Ive visited recently .

That buy one get one half off lasted for two days. It was one hell of a promotion and a huge discount, cause it would take any polk or any panasonic item at normal price and then sell the next panasonic or polk item at half off. Didn't matter what it was!! Any polk and any panasonic item. Serious screw up on CC's part, they had no intention of creating a package deal like that, it's ridiculous, and get this, it also let you ring in the more expensive item for half off. Want to get a 20" tv and 50" tv, you could buy the 20 inch panasonic for 200 and get the 50 for 900. Amazing huh? It no longer rang up on tuesday, so it's gone, and there's nothing like it in its place.

damn I wish I was in the US right now, they have reduced the price here in Canada by only 50$ not a good savings at all, we don't even have the monitor's here yet they are still trying to sell off the r30's..... gues a bit of patience

Man, if you get a chance to get some RTI10's at around $200 each, like I did, snap 'em up. I've only had them set up, and calibrated for a day or so, but these babies sound great to me. I thought my Rti8's sounded great, but the 10's top them easily. I don't know what the people are talking about, that knock the mids on these speakers. They sound great to me. The 8's have nowhere near the bass the 10's have. My receiver allows me to really tweak the equalization on each speaker, so I have these set to where the bass won't over power the mids, and also have it set so that I get similar crisp treble as the 8's put out. I'm no audiophile, and I'm sure there are better speakers out there, but these are the best speakers I've ever heard.

P.S. I was at the Ferguson, MO store yesterday, and they had the 10's clearance priced at $455 each. A far cry from the $202 each I got them for at the Fairview Hts, IL store. I think the 8's were still at regular price! So, check around, and keep checking, as they're very inconsistent on pricing.

Hi guys, first post here. I saw the RTi8 for $225 each and the RTi10 for $264 each at CC. The guy said they are droping that line and only going to sell the Monitor series. How do you guys think the 8 and 10 compare? I now have the CSi30 center and the FXi30 surrounds.

As I just posted above, I'd go with the 10's. They're nice. Just make sure you've got a decent amp/receiver to power them, and it probably wouldn't hurt to have a decent equalizer, unless your receiver has one built in. The 10's have much stronger bass, and a fuller sound. The 8's are a little crisper on the treble, unless you're able to adjust the treble with an equalizer.

I would think the amp or receiver power would be a little more critical on the 10's than the 8's, to drive the bigger drivers on the 10's, but I could be wrong about that.

I have both, by the way (8s & 10s). On my Pioneer Elite receiver (100 wpc, .09 THD 20-20000 hz, all channels), the 10's definitely are a major step up from the 8's.

You might even be able to do without a sub, if you get the 10's.

I have the Sony STR-DA1000ES receiver (100 wpc). My mains right now are Magnapan MGIIa. Had these since 1979. Love these speakers but thought maybe the Polk towers would be a better match for the center and surrounds. I listen to mostly music, a lot of it is SACD multi channel. Don't even know if this it a good idea at all, maybe I should just leave well enough alone. But those deals at CC are going to be gone fast. Oh btw, I have a sub, it's the JBL PB10.

Well my matching problem is solved. I just got a pair of RTi70s for $425 at ABC Warehouse, last pair they had. These are a match for my CSi 30 and FXi30s. Lookin' good here....:D

Hey! Those are the speakers that I returned (in Temecula). I paid
$1500 for them and then found another pair at another store for less than 600 out the door. I returned the "old" ones because the covers were pretty messed up and the "newer" 600 ones were perfect!
That is so strange that the same line of stores has such different prices...although, it does make the hunt more fun ;)

Yup , there was a mint pair of demo RTi12's for $800 about two weeks ago or so , and they disappeared ; then some 12's RE-appereared recently at the much higher price . Not sure if was two seperate sets of 12's or not , but both pairs I saw were in mint shape . I just saw the most recent pair there this last week .

Seems like you made out with your trade ;) . The ONLY thing that stopped me from picking up the $800 pair was the fact they are abit too large for my needs in my small HT room .

Anyway , glad to have a fellow Polkie close by ;) :D

This is just a heads-up (helpful post) for anyone looking for new (unopened) RTi6's .

Seems a fellow Polk member is selling 2 brand new pairs of RTi6's for a decent price of $225 a pair +ship over at the Polk flea market HERE (http://clubpolk.polkaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20769) .
I thought I would post the deal at this thread as the prices the member is selling the 6's for closely matches CC's RTi line close-out price(s) ; and seeing how a few peeps in this thread have mentioned not seeing ANY CC price reductuctions in their area .

I ended up getting my 10's for the $264 price. Actually, I netted out at somewhere around $250 after CC's price match + 10%. I originally paid $399 when they went on sale from $479. A week later they went on clearance. On the last day of my price match, I told the store manager I was going to buy a new pair and return them on my old receipt to start the 30 day clock over again. He laughed and said they weren't going down anymore and if they did he would make it up to me.

They also had fixed the Monitor 70 pricing to reflect $350 each and not pair as their ads had stated. I'll bet more than a few pairs were sold at $350 before they caught it.

I had taken a pair of 8's home and had them hooked up, but took them back for the 10's. I don't yet have a SVS sub (I have a 404) and I needed a little more bass. And the 10's sounded much fuller and less bright.

It’s not a wonder that the RTI line may not have sold well at the Circuit City I went to. When I saw that they had the RTI10’s for $202 each, I was going to buy a pair, regardless. But, I went ahead and asked them to let me hear them. I listened to them for a few minutes, and they were using an Onkyo TX something stereo receiver, and probably an Onkyo CD player. Anyway, I don’t know what the problem was, whether it was the wiring, the switches they run through, or whatever, but they sounded bad. Very muddy and unclear. Plus, CC’s placement of the speakers usually doesn’t help the sound either. I knew they would sound better than that when I got them home – and I had 30 days to bring them back if I didn’t like them.

When I got them home and got them bi-wired to my Pioneer Elite receiver, they sounded fantastic – I mean fantastic. They’re everything I was looking for in a speaker – powerful, tight bass, articulate mids, and crisp, clean highs. I’m extremely pleased with them (if you couldn’t already tell).

So, I can see why the speakers may not have been selling well at CC – if I hadn’t known better, I wouldn’t have bought them either, based on auditioning them in the store. You’d think CC would sell a lot more, if they’d just improve their setup.

And, needless to say, I won’t be returning these gems.

I have 2 CC's by me and one (the older of the 2) has a horrible HT room. There is a 31"? 4:3 TV and the speakers are just sort of placed where they will fit and what looks like an office chair for you to sit on. The other has a 50"+ flat screen, 2 nice HT seats and speakers arranged so that they can closely resemble what you would do at home.

I listened to them at the one with the nice HT, but bought them at the other because the nice one was not discounting them at all. Their excuse was the other store has a BB to compete with.
