I Robot

[Strong Bad]

Well, I swore I would not go see another movie at the theater, but we braved it once again. We figured the thugs wouldn't be out in the early afternoon to cause trouble and we were right.

Checked out "I Robot" yesterday and I was suprised by the movie. I thought it was pretty damn good. Except for a few needless "over the top" scenes, the movie worked well.

Won't give any spoilers, but at the least, give it a shot when the DVD hits rental places no doubt by the big holiday season.

Just curious....did Will Smith ruin the movie at all? I can't stand his acting and it's the only thing keeping me from seeing it.

i'm not really a big Will Smith fan either...i didnt mind him, he is probably my least favorite part of the movie however =P

i enjoyed the movie and think its worth a view - one sci-fi short turned movie that hollywood didnt *completely* ruin =)

I won't see it. It has nothing to do with Isaac Asimov's "I, Robot" short stories except the three laws of robotics. Star Trek: Next Generation even mentions the three laws of robotics when talking about Mr. Data. Looks to me that the producers used The Alan Parson's Project "I, Robot" as their reference.

Do what you want but I saw last weekend too and honestly, that was a good movie. Not an oscar worthy performance but it was a good movie. Worth blockbuster status as a summer action movie.

Will Smith's acting wasn't as over-the-top and "black" (as my friend put it) as it normally is in his other works. He was actually showing signs of being a decent dramatic actor. As far as the movie goes, overall the acting was good, the CGI was incredible and the story, while predictable had a few good plot twists in it. Cinematography was first rate and the director used shots of wide open CGI expanses well and really played some scenes off each other.

The worst thing about the movie was Will Smith's acting and that wasn't nearly as bad as it has been in the past. That's saying something right there too. Defintly worth a visit to the theater due to all the action. If it was all dialogue I'd say to wait for DVD but it's not so go see it in the theater.

Jstas: You summed it up well. Will Smith did a good job, not oscar winning, but a good job. I was most impressed with the Robot "Sonny". He seemed more human and turned in a better performance than alot of the actors.

This will make a great DVD. Killer SQ!

hard to describe really...some will say he's too "black" or whatever - i just dont believe he's a good actor and he always seems to pick cheesey july 4th "blockbuster" types. first movie i've really liked him in is "I Robot"

In my opinion, his lines are way too forced. A good actor can transcend bad writing. Just me I guess. Has nothing to with him being 'too black'. Big fan of Samuel L Jackson, and Morgan Freeman as actors too.

Will Smith sure looked pumped up in the opening scenes of the movie. almost to the point of it being fake. huge pecs.. is he really that well built?

I enjoyed the movie too. It's pure cheese.. but it tastes good.
