View Full Version : Thinking about MM100's

Hi guys,
I have been considering buying two MM100's, but I have a fairly small amp, the Alpine MRV-T707. Without having the exact specs in front of me, I believe it is 600X1 peak bridged at 4 ohms, but I don't believe it runs stable at 2 ohms. I would really rather not buy a new amp because I just got this one a couple months ago. Would I be able to wire the subs in a series to obtain enough power, or would I just have to buy a whole new amp?
Thanks

C-Man,
I would recommend using a larger amplifier to drive these subs especially if you plan on installing them into a sealed enclosure.
The stereo power rating for the Alpine MRV-T707 is only 70 Watts per channel when driving a 4 Ohm stereo load. This limited power can do damage to your subs. We recommend driving these subs with a
amplifier that has a bridged power rating of 500 Watts into a 2 Ohm mono load. Another "temporary" option would be to wire the subs in series and bridge the amplifier. At least with this configuration you will have a good clean 300 Watts available to drive the subs.

Thanks,
Kim

How about the Lanzar Vibe 1200D amp? It's rated at 750 X 1 at two ohms, 400 at 4 ohms, and 1200 at 1 ohm, would that work?

This would be a much better choice. Go for it!!!
