Did anyone buy the re-release of this? How good is the DTS track? For $15.99 at Wal-Mart it may be worth a purchase

I didn't purchase the new release, but I'm betting the print and sound are the same transfers from the originals when they were released in DD and DTS indepenently. I bought the DD version first, then the DTS, and the DTS version is MUCH better, IMO.

Worth the purchase or not?

Just saw this at Walmart and it seems like a good buy with all of the extra features, both DD and DTS, as well as a free movie ticket to AVP. For those that have already bought it, are there any restrictions on the free movie ticket?

the movie ticket is a cash check for the movie theater. its for the price of 1 adult to see the movie. the movie theater guy just has to fill it out and then i guess the movie place takes it to the bank or whatever. it says its to be treated like a regular check.

I went and got it. Just got done watching it. DTS is WAY better. Man I LOVE that movie!!!

Really liked all the special features, too. Watched that whole disc first.

I did just pick it up yesterday, but I haven't watched it yet.

I was reading the AVP ticket and it's even accepted where passes are 'suspended'. Pretty cool.

I bought this today (the 2-disk set). As one of the best sci-fi actions movies ever it was worth the double-dip.

Hope I can get to watch it soon. Too many unwatched dvds are starting to line up.

I got the earlier DTS version a while back. I find the print to be grainy and the sound to be very inconsistent. It's incredibly bright and aggressive at times (music and "Predator-Vision" sequences), yet at other times it seems rather constricted. Hopefully there will be a review of the new release somewhere soon so I can pre-judge whether it's worth getting.

The new Predator re-issue was actually the first movie I watched when I finally setup my complete system w/ my B&K and SVS PB 10.
I found the sound to be awesome. Not in any way inconsistent or too bright.
Lots of cool jungle sounds in the surrounds.
The PQ is a little more variable. Some of the darker scenes and wide shots are very grainy, while other scenes look great. Flesh tones are particularly good, but overall it's not a bad transfer.
Really is one of the best sci-fi/action/horror/kickass films of all time.
Really enjoyed that part at the end of the documentary where they were asking everyone to say the ugly m-f-er line but John McTiernan refused to say it.

Grainy? Who cares, it's a must have for the collection. Not everything is perfect in the world.

One of the few recent movies I have purchased on DVD. A litle hokey, but a good watch nonetheless.

I like to think that with very little effort expended, I myself can be the perfect asshole. Some days are better than others for me.
