I DO..I DO..I DO... THATS WHO:D
replacing the old rt10's..went to C.C. (the sales guy drove me bonkers) to see if i could get a deal and drum roll please.....$$ 229 $$ each
compared them with the 1000's side by side, found the 800's fuller 1000's a litty muddy..i asked the sales guy to do the comparisons in stereo only and that i wanted him to go in and turn down the tones, and of course they both were maxed out( he seemed annoyed that i even asked him to do this) then i started to play with the 1000's the volume control on these was also maxed (didnt expect that:rolleyes: ) the guy only smiled when i said that i would buy them...
any wayz i have new speakers :D :p

ntculenuff,
I went To C.C. today to talk with the manager. He was out until tomorrow. They had the 800i's for $269/ea. (Brand new) Sale ends tomorrow. Were yours open box or brand new for $229? I was going to ask to get them for $249/ea. I don't know if they will move on price but I'll give it a go. I'm in the Cinti/Dayton area.

they were open box and i was a little reluctant to buy.. but they were the last ones that this C.C. had, and i knew that polk has a great warranty and customer service as i have dealt with them b4 on warranty issues in the past, so that did ease my mind about the purchase..
they sound incredible in my house.. so warm and full..
i hate too say it but the 800's put my rt10's to shame, i love those rt10's too, but those 800's are rich, more full range..
i was listening to them with my main sub disconnected and the mid bass the 800's produce is very deep then paired with my sub, man i dont even need the lfe sub... but i think i will keep it;)

Congratulations! You've must've jumped 10 levels up by going with the 800i's. No offence to the rt10's but I thought they were just for surround speakers.
Enjoy!

i feel about 12 levels higher..
those rt10's have been my mains since 95, they will now be dedicated to a stereo music set up in the near future but for now the will collect some dust they deserve a break

The RT10's are a tower speaker that is very similar to the current RTi600, except I believe they have a single 7.5" driver rather than a 6.5".

I went to CC yesterday and talked the mgr. into selling me brand new 800's for $249/ea and another $145 plus my 3-week old CS245i to upgrade to the CS400.
That's $645 for 2 new 800's and a brand new CS400.
Or I can just keep my CS245i and buy (2) 600's for $199/ea.
I really don't have the extra cash but for only $245........ I too could get those awesome 8's. I think I'll get them tomorrow if I can get their 12 months same as cash. This stuff is really addicting!

My amp is a Kenwood VR-509 amp. I'm not sure if this amp is powerful enough to drive. This is where I need some input. I'm new to all this!

I'm trying to attach the Kenwood link on this receiver.

the vr-509 is a reciever with built in amp. it is rated for 100Wx5. i currently am running a very similar kenwood reciever with my 800's/400 and it drive them fine. a new reciever is in the works for me, but yours will do the job...
