I was in CC yesterday.. and both of these speakers here go for about the same price. $119 to $139 each respectively.

Is there much difference between the two.. of course the obvious is the Monitor 40's have more drivers.. but soundwise.. which is the better speaker for two channel listening?

The RTi6's do sound really good. At that price you will not go wrong. Do you have a subwoofer to go with them? If you do, then the more drivers will not make as much of a difference.

Danger boy,

Not sure if you're aware, but the Rti 6's are usually upwards of $300/pr. They are on sale because CC is clearing out the Rti line in favor of the Monitor line (a more mass-consumer focused speaker). The Rti is definitely the better speaker, as that line is a step above the Monitor line. Don't let the extra drivers fool you, the Montior is the lesser animal. Grab the 6's while you can. Make sure to power them w/ a decent amount of juice to get the best sound.

If they have any extras, buy them up and resell them on ebay. I thought about doing that with mine, but they sounded so good I kept them.

RTi6's all the way. The new monitor series does not have the technology that's put into the RTi line. Go quality...

I have the RTi6s and they are amazing, they have more bass extension than one would think that a bookshelf wuold have, they have a wide soundstage and are pretty placement friendly. Unfortuatly I have not heard the 40s, but I have heard the monitor line, and it is not as impressive as the RTi line. If you don't like the Rti6s, you can take em' back and get the 40's if you really wish too. Good luck on your search,
Matt
