I have two Polk Momo MM12's in the sealed plexiglass enclosures. They are pretty loud and hit hard but I want them to be louder. Power is not an issues, im running plenty of power to the subs. I asked around and everyone tells me to put them in a slot ported box. I thought it would be a good idea, and I know I would get more bass out of them in that type of enclosure over a small sealed one. I have read online though that this might be bad for the subs and could possibly damage them but im not sure. I have asked friends that work at some local sound shops and they say that it should be fine to put them in that type of box. Anyone have any opinions?

I guarantee that you will damage those subs if you put them in a ported box. What kind of powere are you running through them?
