are these to be used when you have speakers with clips ? or can they be used on binding posts ?

Yes for spring clips, certainly you can use them in binding post. they will be a bit small and not the tightest fit, but inserted into the hole and tightened with the nut will work.. if thats all you have to work with.

Best use is for holding a pair of olives together in a martini...

i've used needle nose pliers to bend a curve on the end to fit into the binding post. the fit is snugger than straight pins and the lugs don't come loose as they sometimes do with straight pins.
