I'm thinking of buying the HK 230 (sometime later no money right now.) I saw it online at some store for around 400 or so. Just curious as to what you guys think of it.
I have right now a Pioneer VSX-D412, 100 watts * 5 at 1 KHz, Would the full bandwidth testing at 50 watts on the HK be comprable or better than the "100 Watts" on my pioneer? Thanks guys,
Matt

MUCH better. The Pioneer would be lucky to be putting out 35-40w all day long, where the HK is going to be around 60-65 typically. High current > Cheap chip amps all day long! Lift your Pioneer and lift an HK. You'll see the difference.

I got mine off ebay new for $330 or so 6 months ago. Very nice receiver & puts out plenty of power for most people.

Thanks guys, I'm thinking when I get outta the red with my parents and friends, I'll save up for one, and about every other improvement I could have for my HT. :)

unless you are weird about used equipment you can get a used 525 or dpr-1001 for $400 as well, and those are both better receivers than the 230.

the old 525 is an amazing receiver, but never liked anything about the DPR's. Nothing...
