And I just finished wiring 2 new outlets, both on separate circuits using 10 guage wire. The hard part was cutting an outlet sized hole in the plaster and drilling through the floor only to have it come out directly above a support beam and then try to bend and steer the wire into place and up through the hole. :o

It may be a little overkill but I can notice an immediate improvement over the very old outlet and EVERYTHING plugged in through a powerbar. I'm wondering if there will be any type of burn in.

My 2 cents... there is no such thing as burn in.

Glad to hear that there's a big improvement. I would think about doing this to my home theater area, but:
-don't have enough current draw at this point
-I live in an apartment and that's frowned upon :)

10ga!?! :eek: Good Gawd man! Are you using those outlets to run a welder? 12ga is standard for a 20a circuit. You must've gotten a deal on wire, it ain't cheap anymore.

Nice, dc. If you have heard burn in on power cords, I'd be surprised if you did not hear it in a wire run 10x (guessing) the cord's length, or more...

I ran 10 gauge to my big rig, oh yeah baby!

Burn in is real, but you have to have gear that these things can be noticed on.

Derrick, get a PS Power Port or the like for even more improvement.

#10 isn't difficult to work.

Dcarlson - Sounds good, nice project.

It doesn't matter whether burn-in exists or not, it's your gear, make your own determination and let the opinions fall to the wayside.

The burn in is just the electromagnetic effect of the 60HZ AC being drawn at high amperage.. it takes a little while for the wire to completely settle/lock into the connections (outlet, breaker box...) It's real...

There is definetely more information coming through my system. It's opened up nicely. For a little over a $100CDN with wire to spare for when I start the HT in the basement. It's well worth it, IMO.

BK, I believe burn in is real, whether it be the dielectric or the actual wire well... I'm not an EE so I don't know for sure. I have on many occasions had cables smooth out with use. I trust my ears, they're all I've got. ;)

Frank, the cost of the 10awg over 14awg was $20 or so more for 90'. I figured what the hay? I'd rather overkill. :)

Tour, I'm curious to see if does smooth out with use. As of now, my system seems a little out of wack but in a good way. I've never had a dedicated circuit to play with. I was smilling my butt off last night.

F1, geeze, I already sprung for the $2 outlets over $.50 ones. :D I was in at my local Hifi shop over the weekend and they had some wattgate hospital grade outlets. It's something I'll definetely look into. ;)

Doro, not difficult as opposed to 8awg??? :p I know in the tight spots, I didn't have much fun with it. Although, I ran 2 runs of it together. ;)

I don't know if it's just in my head but it seems like there's more gain my system. I don't have to turn it up as much as I was.

I've heard a few REALLY nice speakers but I have to say with every upgrade I've done, the RT1000i's are still surprising me. They're not the ultimate in transparency and neutrality but son of a... I'm really impressed over last few days with some clean quality power driving them. 2 channel they're good and HT they're even better.
