Lots of wine, beer and great company last night has left me with a pretty good hangover today. I usually sleep hangovers away but I've slept and it's seems to be here to stay.

So, what's your favourite hangover cure?

I like to think a ton of greasy food helps it, but it only makes me feel better. Just drink your water and take a fat nap.

my magic cure has been: an extra spicy (heavy on tabasco) bloody mary, followed by extra strong double black latte. It works within 2 hours after intake, in my case.

Like Cody said, alcohol helps. Ibuprofen and lots of water on top of that and you're good to go.

I haven't had a rough day like this in a while. I don't usually drink wine in quantity and I'm sure the mixing didn't help.

I had a couple of Tylenol this morning. Been drinking a lot of water all day. Had a little power nap before dinner. Steak and potatos with bread and lot of water. That seemed to do the trick. Finally.

Don't take Tylenol for hangover, or while you're drunk. Take ibuprofen, like Advil, it is buffered against alcohol and won't damage your liver.

Don't just start drinking again. It may "cure" your hangover for a while, but you'll just feel twice as bad tomorrow.

Lots of sleep, lots of water (or Gatorade even), and I'm a big fan of a B12 supplement, gives you alittle more energy and you don't feel as groggy.

Not if you moderate the drinks. If you get into same shape as the day before, yes it will you harder the next day. A few cold ones to start with and then lots of water and a beer once in a while during the day, every two hours maybe. The key is to not get drunk again, unless you're on a streak... :)

Couple of Bayer Asprin, big glass of fresh-brewed iced tea, and couple quarter-pounders with cheese.

Works everytime.

Cheers,
Russ

Agreed.

Contrary to popular belief concerning impurities in liqour, a hangover's symtoms are usually associated with dehydration due to the fact that alcohol displaces water in the system. Impurities may give you a headache of make you feel nauseous but you would experience the effects of that stuff DURING drinking not the morning after. Anyhow, less water, more dehydration. Signs of severe dehydration are dark colored urine, nausea, dizziness, blurred vision, unquenchable thirst, fever and severe headaches. Basically a hangover.

Best thing to do is to drink a hell of alot of water and rehydrate yourself. Gatorade or another sports drink will work even better but too much at once can make you ill in more ways than one so don't down gallons of it. Start out with one and just drink water after that first sports drink. If you still have a persistent headache, pain relivers work well. Stay away from Tylenol though because it will screw you up if you still have booze in your system.

Other than that, the best way to treat a hangover is to prevent one. When drinking yourself stupid....uhh...errr...stupidER in some cases, make every third drink a 12 oz glass of water. Also, pee early and pee often. If your body is busy dealing with a bladder full of waste, it will not process and metabolize the alcohol out of you system well. So basically, drink water during your binge and don't be afraid to hit the bathroom. It's not that big of a deal if you "break the seal".

pedeolyte isn't anything more than unsweetened gatorade or powerade. It's also not the best idea for an adult to go downing the stuff. It can cause kidney and bladder stones in adults and trust me, after having bladder stones, you'll much rather prefer a fiercesome hangover to passing a bladder stone or kidney stone.

No such thing. Any pain reliever with alcohol will screw you up. Tylenol will cause irreparable liver damage when coupled with alcohol. Ibuprophen and aspirin will also cause liver and kidney damage but nothing like what Tylenol will. Ibuprophen(Advil) and aspirin can also cause heart problems and blood pressure problems when coupled with alcohol or taken in doses too large.

As far as buffering goes, the only buffering on medication that exists is to make sure that the dose stays intact until it gets to where it needs to be and to also help with things like absorption into the blood stream or to ease gastrointestinal distress brought on by the introduction of the pain reliver to a sometimes sensitive environment like your stomach.

A couple of glasses of water did end up "mixing" with the wine, beer, shooters and food but obviously not enough. :D

Just an excessive night I guess. I should have done a couple of bottles of water before bed though.

The best hangover cure is a bag or two of 1000mla NACL 0.9% IV (Normal saline - intravenous).

I have used this with great success, basically a hangover is dehydration at a cellular level. Alcohol inhibits the secretion of AHD (an anti diuretic hormone) which put simply means the body can not keep its natural fluid balance, you piss it all out, not just what you drink but the fluid from the intra and extracellular compartments.

Some say drink some water before going to bed but that will just fill your bladder up, while the booze is in your system the body can not hold onto the water you put in, in the morning you can drink heaps but it takes a while to be digested and absorbed and to settle accross the fluid compartments to where it needs to be. By having intravenous fluid administration it goes directly where it needs to be, you feel better within 5 minutes.....

Go to a med center and pay for it, it is a 'medical' problem there fore can be treated medically and man does it work well, of course if you know someone in the trade that can do it for you all the better!!!!!
