Power Conditioners

I am currently using a single ACE-515 surge suppresor/conditioner, and with the additional components I have added, I need to add more outlets! I am currently considering the Panamax 5100, the Tripplite LCR2400, or another ACE-515 (plenty for sale on eBay!). Does anyone have any feedback on the Panamax and Tripplite. I'm really concerned with the ability to provide unrestricted current for amplifiers and receivers (currently have 5 amplifiers/1 receiver to power). Is the ACE-515 just as good? This is for my system at my apt. in IL, so noise filtration is also a concern, as the electrical system is pretty noisey!

Please don't suggest Monster products! Their power conditioners may be good, but I have real problems with their marketing tactics at the retailer level, and it is my personal choice not to buy their products.

Panamax and Tripplite make good products. If the ACE is working for you, why not just get another? Go with what you know.

Peterng - have you read the retailer agreements that a Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. have to abide by to have Monster products? Are you aware of what Monster has done to some of the buyers and supply chain managers of major retail chains when they didn't agree to Monster's demands? In your opinion what they do may be all fair, and they certainly work hard to stay on the gray side of the legal line. I have a choice, and I don't agree, so I don't support their tactics with my money. You need to make your own choice. Unlike others, I don't feel a need to swing anybody to my point of view. I offered the questions above solely as reasons, based on professionally gained knowledge, why I made the choice I did.

Thanks for the other responses, I like the ACE, and they are very reasonable on the used market. I may try the Panamax or Tripplite as I have never used any of their products.

I really don't give sh*t about what choice you made, that's is entirely up to you. Ask a fair question, then make your choice, otherwise don't ask. I don't need to read crap from MC either, there are certainly many people do like and happy with their products do not deserve a slap in the face from you. So stop the opinion-ized bs...and move on...

Peterng - I thought I asked a good question on opinions on power conditioners, stated that I was excluding Monster from my alternatives, and I didn't ask anyone else to buy into my reasons or choice to exclude them. You responded questioning my reasons, and I briefly expanded on my reasoning, again stating that I had no interest in convincing or swaying others to make the same choice. I'm not sure what your problems are, but I am guessing the right expertise to solve them is not resident on this forum. If you care to expand on your ranting in a rational way, maybe someone can help you. Take care and I hope you enjoy your choices in products as much as I enjoy mine.

Polkthug - yes, I agree, they have taken trademark and service mark protection to the extreme degree. I am partly responsible for protecting the trade marks and service marks of my companies products and services, and although you have to be vigilant and aggressive, we have some really good attorney's in this area and they don't recommend being as aggressive as MC is. In a brief review of the companies they have went after, it really seems as if there is some bias to only picking on companies without the capacity to really fight back.

Everyone has a choice as to which companies to purchase from, and unless you are on a mission to convince others your position is correct, I just don't see the need to defend my choices or to be spoken to in the manner a previous poster in this thread did.

I currently use a TrippLite Isobar power conditioner. Works great and costs a fraction of what some other power conditioners cost. I am looking to upgrade to another Tripplite product. The one you mentioned in your initial thread seems pretty cool. In addition to isolated filtering and surge protection, it has automatic voltage regulation. Be careful though, because since it has a transformer, it will have a hum to it.

I decided to give the Tripplite LCR-2400 a try! It can't have anymore hum due to the transformer in it than my electrical circuits in my apt. building have! They upgraded almost everything in the 1950's era building my apt is in, except the electrical. The green transformer boxes outside hum loudly all the time! I'll let everyone know what my impression is once I get it installed. FYI - there is a wide variety of prices on the LCR-2400 on the internet. I managed to get it for $260 including shipping, while some websites wanted up to $335 plus shipping. One nice feature of the LCR-2400 is that it will manage the full load of a 20 amp circuit, which a lot of the power conditioners I looked at won't!

I got my LCR-2400, and it seems to work very well. I plugged an window air conditioner into the same circuit I had the LCR-2400 running on, and it did an amazing job of managing the voltage fluctuation when the AC kicked in, and of also eliminating the noise in the circut. Much better than the ACE-515. I ordered it from www.techonweb.com, they had one of the lowest prices, it was delivered in 3 days. So far so good!
