Hello All, first post, thanks for tuning in.. Just hooked up a CSI5 center speaker, (sounds great with RTI70's) however, I can hear a hum (intermittently) when the video monitor is on (no cable or satellite, just network, and the TV's output doesn't go thru the receiver).
No noise apparent when TV is off, and amp is switched to either DVD or CD player . I'm told this is not likely due to interference at the speaker (shielded) but may be due to non-shielded video connect;- receiver to TV, and first fix might be a better cable. Any ideas appreciated.

What about when the TV is on but the audio source is your CDP?

As noted, the response is intermittent, but I believe present whenever the TV is "on", regardless of input source to receiver.

Reason I asked was to establish for sure whether the TV was the source (uncommon), or if the audio signal from your TV reception is the culprit (more common).

Did just reread your set up and generated another question...
If your TV is not feeding off-the-air audio to your AVR, what is?

Is the TV power cord running parallel to a interconnect? Maybe it is inducing noise?

Tour- the connect from TV to rcvr is the component video cable (line out), otherwise, it's just the TV speakers playing into the room ( since it's just network, no cable, don't care much about TV audio, more to DVDs).

Gate; good suggestion, I'll give it a check, it's all kind of stuffed in there behind a big 'ol Denmarket cabinet... I'll look for parallellism.

I'm confused though. Are you playing off air audio through your HT rig? If yes, what is the souce for the audio? VCR?

Engendering confusion comes easy for me... audio sources are DVD and CDP.

... and I am easily confused... sounds like a deadly combination.

OK, so no TV audio involvement...

As before, the parallel power cord is a possibility. You also might try getting the TV on another house circuit, even if it's just temporary via an extension cord.
