I have a pair of SDA1's in sight but the seller doesn't have the SDA cable. Is at all possible to get the cables somewhere or should I skip on this pair? Price is cheap so should I get them anyway w/o the cables?

Call CS. I think you can get one from them. Or you can make one easily. Don't give up over the IC...

Are there any instructions available online on how to make them? How should they sound without the cables? (I just want to make sure they are ok and not damaged)

Sami,

It is not that hard to make a cable, but go look at the speakers, you should see a place to plug the cable in just above the binding posts. Someone else just posted in a picture of a what appears to be a hacked set of SDA with some strange looking terminal connect outside the standard binding post cup, members more knowledgeable than me about SDA had never seen this. Without the cable only the stereo mid-woofers will be working, this will result in soundstage and imaging being reduced and of course you will not hear the SDA effect we talk about, tonal sounds sometimes even coming from behind you etc.

Series one used a blade/blade interconnect, I would tell the seller not having the cable is a detriment and try to negotiate a lower cost.

I would say so, you use basic handtools, you can solder the blade connectors to the wire you use, which is ordinary speaker wire or you can just compress fit (squeeze) the wire and fitting together. Write Ken Swauger or call him at Polk CS he is very helpful. You can get as fancy as you want with coverings and shrink wrap etc.
