What gauge wire should I use to hook up my Audiobahn 10 inch sub? Rated at 600 watt RMS? Also will a smaller number gauge flow more making the sub louder? thanks

4 awg, it wont get any louder using bigger awg wire than that

Are you talking about power wire or speaker wire?

If its power wire the Cody is right. Unless youre running 1000 watt amp you wont need anything bigger than 4 guage.

If youre talking speaker wire then 12-14 will work.

Agreed 12-14 is fine. Running a larger gauge (like 10, 8 etc) will not give you audible difference. There will be less wire resistance, but unless you are running 100 ft or more of wire, the resistance change is next to nothing.

On the other hand, if you move to 20 awg wire, that is too small for 600wrms. The wire will heat up, increasing resistance which then will cause the wire to heat more continually until you have a fire.

For 600wrms, you might be able to get away with 16 awg, but 14 is a sure thing and 12 awg gives you plenty of upgrade room.
