Today is going to be a nut buster for me. The must for me today is LOTR-ROTK, EE, I-Robot, Collateral, Top Gun, and Spider-man 2 (Superbit). Then for the kids I have to Pick up the Princess Diaries 2, Bionicle and Bionicle 2.

I, Robot and Collateral today @ lunch time.

I am highly unlikely to buy the ROTK EE dvd today, but I will get it. I hate the fact that they release and re-release these films. I feel cheated since I already own all 3 LOTR films. They could have just put both versions on the first dvd release. This SUCKS. Its all about the money though, I guess. One of my favorite series by the way. I watched The Two Towers and Fellowship of The Ring this weekend. Still takes my breath away every time.:D

So, what is the improvement made on Top Gun? I have the standard release from a few years ago? thanks..

Top Gun got an all new anamorphic transfer and has dd 5.1 and dts 6.1 sound tracks. From what I've read, it looks and sounds fantastic. This is the first anamorphic transfer of the film, the previous releases have not been and the reason I never bought it.

This is on my list with RotK:EE and I, Robot for today.

Thanks, Ron!

I went ahead bought it, along with ROTK EE, I Robot, and Collateral (feel very christmasy in spending, I supposed :) )

Btw, I went to Fry's (to look for an ac adapter) and thought the price is slightly cheaper compared to BB (my default store):

TG SE, IR, Collateral all at $14.99; ROTK EE $20.99

It could be just for Tuesday Release special day...fwiw

I saw Collateral in the theaters and thought it was really good, for you wafflers. Maybe it was because it was a brand new theater at the time, but I also thought the sound was really well done. Several different styles of music are in it.

All these Directors Cuts and Extended Versions piss me off.

It seems as tho directors are making 2 movies nowadays. 1 to release in theaters and one to release on DVD.

I agree Mac. it pisses me off to.. that's why i started this thread.

But, I'd probably do the same thing If i were a movie director. DVD sales are huge.. and who wouldn't like two or three different version of LOTR or other huge Hollywood mega hit?

Plus on the DVD release.. the director can add back any footage that was cut.. giving the consumer something new and improved. it's marketed as "you can't live without this special edition DVD".

and we buy it hook line and sinker every time. :(

At least with LOTR EE's you are getting a MUCH better value with nearly an hour of extra footage per film, and TONS of extra's (if you're into this stuff). And for the extra cost for the first week of their release, I think they're well worth it.

All these Directors Cuts and Extended Versions piss me off. The one that ticked me off was an advertisement on the normal version of the LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring for the extended version.

I got Top Gun, I Robot and The Day After Tomorrow (finally on sale at a good price). All DTS, all good demos. :p

The LOTR crap is the ones that piss me off the most. They first release the standard DVD for a mere $20 then make you wait 3 more months for the Special Edition with the 3 hours of extra footage that shouldve been there to begin with and maybe a behind the scenes episode or something then sell it for $40?!

I bought the "standard" one out of spite! LOL
