I got my new denon dvd 2900 player last week and picked up some dvd-audios for the first time (I had already bought a couple of SACD's). I picked up Fragile by Yes, Metallicas Black Album, and Gaucho by Steely Dan. They all sounded good, but the Steely Dan album is amazing! I can't believe it was recorded in 1980! Absolutely crisp and loud. It's the best sounded DVD-A or SACD I have. The rest sound good also, but nothing like Gaucho. I suspect that there will be a lot of variation in the quality of DVD-A recordings, just like SACD. I can't wait to invest in some better quality interconnects and speaker cables to really get the most out of my player. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what they think are the best sounding DVD-A and SACD's? I'm never going back to CD's now!!
