This has always worked in my acoustic guitars (especially 12-strings) so, I thought "what the heck? It has to be good for any music!"
Of course, the several hundreds of dollars spent on tubes, ICs and speaker cables may also come into play in some minor way. :p

Do you do that tweak to each piece or just the CD player?

So far, just the CDP. It also serves as a jitter monitor. If I hear that ONE sound that can make the hair on the back of my neck stand up, it's time to back the volume down a bit.
I'd divulge how many I have (stuffed inside guitars) but I don't want PETA to picket the house. Been doing it for decades. It's true guitar mojo to us old timers.
