video game resoultions ?

ok. i have a older PS2 and a Gamecube.

I have the PS2 hooked up to my old analog tv using a S-VHS cable. looks ok.

then i have a Gamecube hooked up to a digital TV with a similar cable. S-VHS. I can get a component cable for the Gamecube.. but does anyone know what the resoultion would be using a high quality connection like a component cable? would it be like a DVD quality.. ie 480 lines

just curious really. I know component cable will give me the best looking video quality.

The resolution is still 480, but the colors will be much better with a component cable. Regular TV and DVD both have a resolution of 480.

Some games for my xbox actually have higher resolutions, I'm not sure about the other console capabilities.
