Looks like a good idea, especially if you want to do it yourself. Quality should be reasonable. Personally I would check the used options on ebay and audiogon to make sure someone is not selling a VERY expensive table for the same price before jumping. I paid about $1500 for my table which was $5500 ($3K plus $2500 worth of upgrades). Every now and then you can find a deal. Nothing like spinning the black circle!

Henry,

It looks REAL nice, but $125 shipping??? I'd shop around for a nice Thorens or Rega... Actually, I am, and I have seen some pretty decent ones come up on AudioKarma.com once in a while. If you wanna get esoteric, I'd say go to audiogon, there are alot of them, the prices are a little higher, but not totally unreasonable.

You are definetly understanding me here... but I think unique and high quality verse esoteric... if you catch my drift.

I have been looking at TT's for the past year now and am so confused that I just have not pulled the trigger.

Go for it Henry, this is also on my "next to do list". I really want a better table for my 2 ch.

I looked at it again but I didn't see the naked guy playking trumpet. OK, so another thing jumped out that I didn't see before. This table doesn't seem to be designed for a record clamp. After having a clamp on my present one I feel it is a necessity. When you clamp the lp down it becomes part of the platter, not just something sitting on it. It is as though the lp is 2" or 3" thick with tons of mass. That puts a definite vote against it in my opinion. Maybe they offer it but it is not shown?

Ha ha, I see it now. Kinda like people selling shiny things on ebay and taking pics in their bday suits. That is hilarious.
