anybody pick this up? i did because i love the movie and because there are beautiful girls in it :)
as far as sound goes, there is some awesome bass in the beginning from some background music with drums. i didn't really notice anything else.
lots of cool fighting, if you liked gladiator you will probably like this too

Looks decent enough for a blind purchase. I'll pick it up in the next day or so.

Bought it yesterday and loved it... great movie! Not as epic as Braveheart or Gladiator in my mind but still a great flick.

I thought it was a pretty good movie. Epic, good action, some good performances. But, it was kind of uneven, in terms of storytelling and the script, and there was a bit of miscasting. The music wasn't very memorable, and just seemed to be more of a rehash of James Horner's earlier works. It never failed to be entertaining, though, and the action scenes were incredibly well done. I'll be buying it.

PQ was pretty good on this one, some soft spots but not too bad. Sound was alright, nothing too fancy, although I did have to watch it at a lower volume since the 'bass police' was up in the living room.

I like Eric Banna, but he sucked the life out of the role of Hector. Should have been Karl Urban.
In contrast, Pitt was really fun to watch.

I thought that if you didn't know the story it would have been a pretty good movie. It bothered me how they changed so much of it and left alot out.

I thought it was pretty entertaining, and the swordplay was very cool. Brad Pitt was even good in it. And was Helen Diane Krueger? Man, she is gorgeous!
Okay, was anyone else annoyed by Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom being allowed to go with their normal (Australian) accents? I mean, I don't expect them to speak Greek (or whatever was spoken in Troy)...in fact I don't know what accent they should have gone with...maybe just a pseudo-British like Pitt did...I just find Australian accents annoying. Blame that Crocodile Hunter schmo. Ah sorry, just a peeve.

I bought it today and watched it tonight.
I thought the movie was pretty good. I had low expectations earlier this week and passed it up, but after reading the replies on this thread I decided to pick it up. I think it was well worth the purchase.....a little long though. That may be my only complaint on this one.

This is now one of my alltime favorite movies!
Pitt has always been my favorite "pretty boy" actors and he was awesome in this. His fighting style was awesome! It wasnt like the other movies like this, two clumsy actorys whacking away with swords at each other, but he moved like what you would expect for Achilles who was said to "fight like a god" by Homer.
I was expecting a decent movie but the opening fight scene with that 8 foot tall dude was one of the coolest things Id ever seen!! Especially when he hits the ground and keeps on walking without looking back then walks up to the other side and talks shit! HELL YEAH!!
Awesome movie!
Up there with The Fugitive and Goodfellas as my favorite!

i hated orlando bloom!! the only movie he is tolerable in are the 3 lord of the rings movies. he plays the role of girly elf with long blonde hair very well but isnt so good at the masculine fighter thing. oh yea and he sucks, did i mention he sucks? cuz he sucks. didnt like him in pirates of the caribbean either.
end rant

That's an interesting perspective, as most of the reviews for this film were mediocre, but all of them I can remember praised Eric Bana's performance. Karl Urban is an interesting choice. He's actually a pretty good actor, glad he's getting more work.
As far as the film in general, I thought it was entertaining enough, and the scene between Priam and Achilles came off really well (thanks to the mastery of O'Toole), but overall the movie left me feeling that it was lacking something, as if all the great moments from the epic poem were thrown in as necessites rather than truly epic moments. The Trojan horse scene had that effect most of all-seeming to just come and go without real gravity.
Still, overall the performances were very good, and there were some spectacular moments (Brendan Gleeson kicking Orlando Bloom's ass being one of them).
I agree about the score, most of Horner's music since Titanic has been a rehash of his earlier scores. I think House of Sand and Fog was the only one that saw him branching out a bit: very understated.
On a side note, I remember really looking forward to the love scene between Kruger and Bloom, as I read an early fan review that played up how wonderful Kruger's breasts are. Man this guy couldn't stop talking about them. He saw a rough cut before the final release. And of course, for the theatrical cut they cropped the shot. They're just aren't enough good breast shots in movies anymore.

bought this and watched it recently. wished i had just rented it.
maybe its just me but i just couldn't get into the movie. i felt no connection with any of the characters (lacking development?), and felt like ths story just kind of lumbered along with no real suspense.
definitely not the worst movie i've seen but i don't think i'll be watching it again anytime soon.

it's a newer movie and looked kinda cheesy to me. Looked a lot like Swimfan and all those other stalker movies that wish they could be the next Fatal Attraction.
