I'm curious if there are any opinions about the differences in sound between these two, or even the variations of the CRS+. I'm interested in getting into some SDA's, and the compacts might be a good place for me to start. Any help is definitely read and appreciated.

First and foremost, thanks, doro.
Well, the parts list indicates that the CRS has two SL2000's per speaker, whereas the CRS+ iterations have just one tweeter (also SL2000, not SL3000) per speaker. There are differences in midrange drivers and passives according to the parts list also. What do you make of that?
How about performance? Have you heard them go?

Yaman, my mistake.....SL2000's.
CRS+ (Pin/Blade) SL2000(1)/MW6510-11/SW102
CRS+ (Blade/Blade) SL2000(1)/MW6510-10/SW100
CRS (Blade/Blade) SL2000(2)/MW6503-03/SW102
The early CRS had the SDA tweeter, the later CRS+ did not utilize that effect. the later CRS+ goes a little deeper in frequency response.
It's a fantastic speaker and throws a pretty large sounsstage for as "small" as they are. I am always on the prowl for some myself.

Ahhh, one of the tweets in the CRS was an SDA tweet. Interesting. I wonder why they went away from it.
It must be nice being you, doro, as I'm sure that if I called the SDA tweet an "effect" I'd get slapped across the mouth by someone here. ;>}
I wonder if the people who've heard both/all have any preference amongst these CRS(+) releases. And if so, why.
Prowling indeed.

If you are a devotee of the later SDA's....the SDA tweeter is weird....not bad, just weird. Don't ask me to describe it, because I can't.
I haven't listened to my SDA's in months.

I'll describe it, it's spacey.

I knew there was something wrong with you lately and now I know what it is.

I would say that's probably the best word for it....spacey. The SDA soundstage is already large, and every now and then that SDA tweeter will relay some "beyond the soundstage" sound from the media that you're playing....like a surround effect going from front to back kinda.
Does that sound about right F1?

Yep, sounds about right Doro.

Thanks, guys. I think I could live with an occasionally unusual sound effect. I think the bigger question would be whether or not I could live with the SL2000's. My experience with the SL2500's concerns me.

No problem, just swap in the new replacement tweeters. Makes all the difference in the world.

Ok, thanks. Looking forward to having the opportunity to do just that.

I agree with F1, swap the new ones in.....crappy tweeter no more.

Polk realized that the SDA crosstalk cancellation effect did not require extension into the high frequency range.

Really nice tidbits. I hope that I'm not the only one who's benefitting from the info. Thanks again, one and all.

SDA is not an effect. It is the natural reproduction of real music. SLAP!

So what is the current pricing on CRS+ speakers? Good condition with cable.
$300 ish?

I just picked up a pair SDA CRS, MINT, black finish for $250. The $250-300 mark is easily the normal range, even more if they have extras.

F1nut,
Received this reply today from Ken re same query.
Hello Edwin,
The white wire would go with the red terminal and the black to the negative terminal.
Regards, Ken, Polk Audio
Now what do I do? tks

I just looked at a pair of CRS's that came in today, blue/black wire goes to the red dot.
If you want to be 100% sure, check the leads from the crossover to the tweeter with a VOM.

This is just a cut and paste from the other thread.
I have two pairs of SDA's wired just as I stated, so that's my given.
The schematics I have specifically address this same color code for multiple models.
The schematic for the SDA CRS and SDA CRS+ states Blue/Black = Positive, Green/White = Negative.

Thanks a lot guys. I guess Ill go with the black to positive terminal. I have replaced all the drivers and yesterday the tweets and have never been happier with the sound. Did notice though that when I removed the original Tweets , the white wire was soldered to the positive terminal. I guess the original owner made a mistake, By the way, are all wires terminated with connectors? Cuz if mine was soldered, then a modification was made. Thanks again. Sure am learning a lot from these forums. God Bless

I think you've found your answer, Polk never soldered the connections.
