I posted about a faulty tweeter on another thread. I got home from work and I want to remove the tweeter. I took out the screws but I cant get the tweeter freed up any tricks to it. I break everything and dont want to put any marks on the speaker trying to pry it out.
Thanks

Remove the 6½ driver below the tweeter, then reach up and push the tweeter out from behind (push on main magnet part). The tweeters in my R30s are tight, and this is how I got them out.
PS. It would help if you posted what speaker, but I assume you mean the R50s from the other thread.

I just purchased an entire R series system - one for 2 ch. & one for HT and I was wondering why you had to take your tweeters out. Is this a common problem with the R series? Did you replace them with the same tweeter or something different?
Thanks

Well, it's like this. I started out with an Onkyo txsr501 with 2 R50s and 2 R15s, then added 2 R20s, and worked my way up to:
left/center/right - R50
surround left/surround right - R30
rear left/rear right - R30
psw404 - subwoofer
HK AVR630 - receiver
I sit 6' - 7' from the R50s, and the tweeter is almost at ear level.
The R50s were great for TV/HT, but musically they had a little blair in the tweeter. When I upgraded to the hk avr630 the blair was even worse. I tried everything I could think of to knock back the blair, short of turning the speakers around facing the wall. This included trying the tweeters from my other speakers R15/R20/R30 (this is why I was taking my tweeters out).
I finally gave up on the HK avr630 and got an Onkyo txsr702 and solved the blair problem (although the amp section isn't as strong as the hk avr630). The txsr702 has a 5 band equalizer on each channel (only 3 bands on subwoofer), which I used to tweek the tweeter on the R50s (xover = 2khz).
If anyone is interested, these are my settings:
Equalizer L/C/R (others all 0):
80 ... +1 (0 for center speaker)
250 ... 0
800 ... 0
2.5k ... -1
8k ... -2
Treble L/R (10khz) ... +2 (roll high tweeter back in)
Bass L/R (100hz) ... +2
Cross Over ... 60hz
Double Bass ... On (duplicates left/right below xover to subwoofer)
Ch Levels for L/C/R ... -5 (a tick smoother)
Ch Levels for SL/RL/RR/SR ... -3
Ch Level for subwoofer ... -5
All speakers set to Large, except Center which is set to Small (60hz xover).
====================
My System
left/center/right - R50
surround left/surround right - R30 (on 29" stands)
rear left/rear right - R30 (on 29" stands)
psw404 - subwoofer
Onkyo TXSR702 - receiver
