Plasma Question

Just got my plasma and I noticed if I leave it on an image for any amount of time it will 'burn-in" when I switch inputs. Then over the next minute just dissapear, I assume this is just the phosphorus being burnt in and not an actual issue with the set, but any ideas?

First, calibrate with Avia or Sound & Vision DVD. You probably need to turn down contrast, turn down sharpness, turn off edge enhancement, etc.

You have your setting to high. Plasma tv don't do what your explaining unless you have the brightness and contrast set to high. Buy the disks and report back.

Set it up properly. The high contrast and brightness on the factory setup makes you say wow but it is too high. They are just competing with the other brands in the stores. When you first set it at a proper level you will think it is too low but that is just your mind comparing it to the original setup. A few days later you will be saying "wow" to yourself at the lower settings.

Just used the THX setup disc for now and it seems to look a lot better. With less burn in.

I still have issues with plasma burn-in and am kind of worried about it, is it really something to worry about? I guess the ghosting left (Image Retention) over from certain stuff just bugs me, I admit it does go away if I watch something else but it just worries me.

I've done a lot of research over the past 3 days on this issue. I have decided to let my plasma run for 120 hours straight with and HD image, I guess a lot of the burn issues appear in the first 120 hours because the phosphors are brand new and easily susceptible to it but letting it run I will give the phosphors a chance to to wear in.

I have also turned down contrast to 35% and brightness to 40% and used the THX setup disc. I have ordered the Sound and Vision disc; should be here shortly.

LCD's are all fun and games until someone gets a pixel poked out. :)

Plasma is vivid and dynamic compared to todays LCD. It's coming close to a tie though. Today though, plasma is king.

lcd is better in 1/ of the things like no burn in works in high placeses. is lighter. dues better in direct sunlight. can be made in under 35 inches. but plasma is a bit better in a few area. like cheaper when over 42 inches and a few others.

DLP is pretty good, it the only one with 100% no burn-in like effects. Also the Sammy's come with both DVI and HDMI inputs.

dlp also has it benefits and draw back like rainbows and a few others.

Plasma is also better than todays LCD in motion shots. LCD's tend to blur but they are getting a LOT better than they were last year.
