I recently bought a Marantz SR5100 receiver at an auction, mainly because I had this same receiver years ago, and it was really my first good stereo system. So a little nostalgia kicked in! It does work, but has some issues, and I think the power supply might be giving out. After a little internet research, my memories of this receiver having great sound and a good amount of power, 100 wpc, were confirmed. I would like to check into having it repaired and cleaned up. Does anyone know who I could contact about this? I see lots of restored Marantz receivers on eBay, not sure if I should contact one of those sellers, or if anyone on this forum knows of someone good to contact.

Hi,
I'm a big Marantz fan, I have some vintage stuff too. That model is not too old if I recall correctly. I would send it to the boys at Marantz for repair. They have always been very fair to me over the years. Good luck.

The SR5100 is from '80 to '82 based on info. I found on the internet. Marantz has used the SR5100 model in their current line of HTR receivers, so it gets confusing when you search for information. This receiver is built like a tank and has the warm sound of the '70's Marantz receivers. I also have a 2270 and 4400 for comparison. At an honest 100wpc, the SR5100 has some power behind it to drive a wider range of speakers.
After checking with several places on the internet, I actually found a place the specializes in fixing and restoring older audio equipment right in my backyard, Rockford IL.
